Barry the Bariatric Mannequin
Description
‘Barry’ is a bariatric training mannequin that weighs 25 stone (350lbs/159kgs), yet it is easy to disassemble to move or store. Barry has been designed to assist the manual handling training of healthcare workers, emergency personnel and many others enabling them to safely and efficiently manoeuvre or rescue plus-size people whilst maintaining the patient’s dignity.
Bariquins overcome the disadvantages that current mannequins of a similar weight have. They don’t require a team of trained people to haul the mannequin to and from the training area, nor do they need filling with water (and emptying) in situ. Also, the price of the Bariquin will soon be recouped compared to using a real life model -and Barry won’t get tired or embarrassed during training.
Training is often delivered by a single trainer and the Bariquin has been designed around this central principle. Barry is made up of 15 weighted parts, a jacket plus the realistic looking head, hands and feet. His heaviest component is designed to be less than 16kgs -that’s much less than the weight of your flight suitcase. And with two handles stitched securely to the more substantial parts, they are easier to carry too.
