Something exciting is coming to the design process at Openhouse! We are digitising our design process in order to make it faster and more intuitive and interactive.

Our design staff are currently undergoing training at the Virtual Engineering Centre, in order to use Cinema 4D and Utility 3D and utilise them in our design process. We recently attended a knowledge exchange, with one more scheduled for the 20th of this month. During the knowledge exchange we got to experience working in Cinema 4D, creating a simple model of a bag and a simple animation of it opening. The end goal of this is that we will be able to build more advanced models from scratch and eventually sculpt standard parts to then incorporate into those models saving time whilst designing.

Furthermore, we have had an app developed for us by the team at the Virtual Engineering Centre. This app is designed with augmented reality technology and allows for a bag to be projected on screen via the camera on a tablet and can be customised on the screen in real time allowing for us to showcase a design to customers there and then. Whilst the app is not available yet we are working toward using the app in-house with the eventual aim of being able to take a device with it installed on to a meeting with a customer and working on a concept with them.[vc_column][vc_video link=”https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_TETUdGSWsg&feature=youtu.be” align=”center”]We will be sure to update you as we progress through this phase of digitising our design process.
