Airway Roll And Pictorial IDentification System
The AirRAPID System is an advanced airway equipment storage and preparation system designed for use by clinical teams performing prehospital emergency anaesthesia (PHEA) and intubation. It has been designed by the enhanced prehospital care team of the North West Air Ambulance Charity and provides fast, easy and intuitive access to vital airway management equipment during high pressure situations. Design features such as a customised equipment storage section, a high-visibility workstation, a checklist wallet and a pictorial identification system are included to increase the speed and accuracy of PHEA kit dump preparation whilst reducing the cognitive workload placed on the clinical team completing the procedure.
The AirRAPID System consists of two panels that together are designed to form the core of a clear and logical kit dump that is prepared prior to a prehospital intubation. The equipment storage section features a series of elasticated loops that hold equipment tightly in place. Loop size and layout are customised to follow an intuitive left-to-right progression that the clinician can follow during equipment selection. All loops are sized to hold equipment neatly whilst in its original packaging making the AirRAPID System fully CQC compliant. One elastic loop is specifically intended to contain a surgical airway kit and is made from highly visible bright yellow elastic to aid identification of this essential item when time is of the essence. The AirRAPID System is also equipped with a high-visibility workstation with its own pictorial identification system designed to map out where each piece of equipment should be placed before use. This promotes maximum efficiency, standardisation and reduces the cognitive workload experienced by the clinician. There is a clear wallet for the inclusion of a pre-intubation checklist and there are clearly marked sections of the workstation for ventilation circuit construction, the placement of bougies and drug syringes. Equipment templates form the main part of the pictorial identification system and act as a quick-look visual aide to ensure that vital equipment is present and is logically positioned to promote maximum efficiency and ergonomic simplicity during the intubation.
When not in use the AirRAPID System folds away neatly for easy storage and can fit into a response bag. It fastens into the bag, via hook and loop, which keeps it secure but can also allow it to be removed easily when needed. To ensure it remains untampered with and to allow for the use of a “make-ready” preparation system, it has two D-rings which are compatible with our tamper proof seals. These will keep the AirRAPID System secure and will guarantee your equipment remains ready for use when needed. Hook and loop also keeps the roll closed when not in use, which keeps it compact when in a bag. There is also Heat Transfer Reflective printing to identify which type of equipment is held in the roll.
The AirRAPID System is made to order meaning it is available in any of the 8 colours of micrAgard™. micrAgard™ is a material exclusive to us and is anti-microbial and water resistant, keeping the equipment inside from infection and water.
